4 Summer Fun Tips

According to a Glassdoor survey, Americans took advantage of only about half of their paid vacation last year.  This is an alarming statistic, considering how much people love taking vacation.  So, whether this was attributed to timing, cost, or an overall combination of other factors, vacations have been few and far between.
So, when you do actually decide that its time to hit the road and head on vacation.  It’s important to ensure that you are getting the best bang for your buck.  After All, vacations are the things that memories are made of.  Wouldn’t you rather yours be enjoyable ones?  Below is a short list of summer fun tips.  These are things to keep in mind, as you go about enjoying your fun in the sun.
1. When you book matters…
An Expedia report shows that booking a flight on Tuesday yields the best fares and that you can save about 20% by leaving on Thursday rather than Friday and returning on Monday instead of Saturday.  Remember, however, that with prices changing minute by minute and second by second, this isn’t an exact science.
2. Pack smart, from the start
Don’t buy into the hype around vacuum sealing. Instead, use gallon-sized Ziploc bags to pack your clothing – either by outfit or

by type of rolled item (tanks, T-shirts, dresses) – to achieve the same effect. Toss in a stack of dryer sheets to remove any static cling, and you’re good to go.
3. Take it easy, on vacation
Be sure to build a rest day into your vacation. There will be times when you feel burned out and will want to relax.  Be sure to do so.  There is nothing worse than coming back from vacation burnt out.  Rigid schedules are waiting for you back home

4. Cash is king, credit is security

As anyone’s who’s ever gawked at their credit-card bill can confirm, people spend 12 to 18% more on average when using credit cards as opposed to cash. Instead of this, budget out a daily allowance for the things you want to do.  If you end up near the end of your daily budget, you’ll know to slow down a bit.  This will help you manage your vacation budget, while also giving you peace of mind.  With that being said, however, it’s always smart to bring an emergency card just in case.  You never can be completely sure of what expenses might pop up.

Southern California Travel Tip 2 of 10

2. Find deals for activities: While planning your activities, start tracking sites like KGB, Groupon and LivingSocial. If you don’t mind toting a coupon along with you on an outing, you can save big during your visit. Deals can range from food and drinks to dining and activities. In fact, every once in a while, you can find diamonds in the rough for activities that you were already planning on doing. Get to hunting!

Southern California Travel Tip 1 of 10

Whether you’re heading out west on business, coming to the west coast for the first time or returning again, there are definite Dos and Don’ts during your travel. For example, the very time of day you land can change the whole dynamic of your first day. Fly into LAX at the wrong time and you may end up spending the rest of the afternoon on the 405 freeway with all the other “happy” drivers in traffic -definitely NOT a way to start your first hours in Southern California. We’ve created a list of the top 10 things to keep in mind when traveling west. They’ve been compiled from a series of articles, newspapers and personal knowledge. Enjoy!

So that you don’t have information overload, we will be sharing 1-2 of these each day.  By the end of the 10 you’ll be an excellent travel, or at the very least a better informed one.

1. Know the Weather: The weather in Southern California can change from day to day, hour to hour and even city to city. So, it’s wise to both know the weather and plan your wardrobe accordingly. If you are planning on ending an evening on the beach, know that it cools off quite a bit in the evening. We like going to The Weather Channel for weather information. Remember to be a specific about the city you’ll be in as possible. That little key can be the difference between a happy day and a frigid night.
